these three images
(about 14x21") are part of a
nine drawing series for my
drawing II final.  all are
graphite
on heavy paper.
two examples of work from
relief printmaking.
the left, 32.5x27", is of a print froma
carved board of luan, with a print of a
metal sculpture on top.  this was a fun
process, but sad since my sculpture
was crushed.
the right, 9x12", is a monotype.
these four images were taken
            during my review
committee (dec 2002)

fall 2002
this semester i was finished with
foundations, and was able to
choose my classes.  i learned how
to weld, among countless other
skills.
i decided to leave montserrat at
the end of this semester, to pursue
other interests
.
               approximately 24x18x12"
another sculpture project about opposite
textures,
the ball is extremely smooth and the inside
of the structure is rough.
during fabrication this project also
began to describe tension, as the ball is not
connected to the the structure.
(above left and below center) these are
images
of the sphere re before i got started and
in progress (the entire shape was hand
carved).
(above right) an image of the final piece
the assignment was something about
childhood images portrayed through a
cartoon iconic style. the image on the
right shows my final piece. we were
required to weld steel for this project.  for
most of the class it was their first welding
experience. the top left image is the
result of my practice spot welding, i
decided afterwards that it was interesting
enough to save.  below right: detail of
practice piece
i was apprehensive to learn how to weld,
now it is one of my favorite techniques.
